Victoria Thierrée Chaplin’s world is full of humour and the sparkle of gentle madness. For her new show, Aurélia Thierrée slips into the shoes of a kleptomaniac. She opens the doors to her imagination, tinged with intranquillity and poetry. The multi-faceted artist finds herself manipulated and under the influence of the objects she steals. Objects that belong to a world that does as it pleases. A coat rack starts to walk. Seats and a table slip and slide, while a wall opens to reveal a couple of dancers. A dress suddenly takes on a life of its own… Here the strange meets the marvellous. In Bells and Spells, logic, reason and seriousness have no place. Aurélia Thierrée guides us into hallucinatory lands. Libertarian lands that combine surreal humour with a sense of the magical.
