This opens Black Legends, a musical fresco that, in 36 scenes, retraces almost a century of African-American music: from the Cotton Club to the election of Barack Obama, via the pre-war years and the fight for civil rights. For this musical revue for all audiences, 20 singers, dancers and musicians perform on a stage where the instruments resonate live: guitar, bass, drums and brass. Strange Fruit», «A Change is Gonna Come» and «Free» move the audience, while «ABC», «Crazy in Love», disco and hip hop dance the night away.
